Learning Languages

Lately I've been obsessing over languages. The thought of being able to communicate with different people and learn about their culture motivates me to strive to learn. And why not? I live in a country that prides itself with being a multicultural society so I should at least take advantage of this. This is why I love Canada! I have been studying hard to brush up on my lacking Japanese skills. I enjoy speaking it until I lose all thought process on how I am supposed to say what I want to say. Phew! And boy do I ever feel the pressure. Shall I list a few reasons why? Ok..well....

1) Both my parents speak Japanese (My mother is from Okinawa and my father is Canadian but he grew up in Japan.
2) I was born in Tokyo, Japan ( I moved to Canada when I was 2 years old.)
3) My grandparents only speak Japanese.

But I am thankful to have this pressure. Sure it may hurt at times but I think a little nudge once in a while can get me going to strive for more then just the basics.
Happy Learning!

Chinatown in Black and White

A stroll downtown

She doesn't speak much english but she sure knows how to run a shop

                         Natural remedies are the best!

  Peeking Duck anyone?

Beautiful lanterns in one of the many little shops in Chinatown

My sister lost in a whimsical land

This scared my mom, believe it or not

I felt as if I went back in time

Chinatown was amazing! I am hoping that I will be able to go to China one day. The culture and food is just wonderful and delightful in so many ways. It fascinates me.
